Before you start

Choral is a floating remote control for macOS, not a streaming service. Pandora continues playing in Chrome under your own account. Choral Connector sends the current track and supported controls to the Choral app through a local connection on your Mac.

You need macOS 15 or later, Google Chrome, the Choral app, and the free Choral Connector extension. The extension does not receive access to Pandora until you explicitly enable that website.

1. Install Choral Connector

  1. Install Choral on your Mac. Download it directly or install it from the Mac App Store, then open the app.
  2. Add Choral Connector to Chrome. Open the Chrome Web Store listing and choose Add to Chrome.
  3. Keep the extension available. Open Chrome's Extensions menu and pin Choral Connector if you want its icon to stay visible in the toolbar.
The browser extension cannot be used by itself. The Choral app must be running on the same Mac for the floating player to receive track information and send controls.

2. Enable Pandora in Chrome

  1. Open the music website. Visit https://www.pandora.com/ and sign in.
  2. Open Choral Connector. Click its toolbar icon while the Pandora tab is active.
  3. Enable this site. Click Enable Choral on this site, then approve Chrome's permission prompt. Choral requests access only to the music website you are enabling.
  4. Start a song. Play a normal track on the website. The popup should change to a Ready message after Choral recognizes the player.

3. Control Pandora from Choral

Pandora has two distinct playback modes. Radio stations restrict navigation and seeking by design; collection albums and playlists behave more like an on-demand player. Choral updates its enabled controls to match the current mode.

Open Choral's music-source menu and select Pandora. This selection determines which source receives play, pause, and shortcut commands when several music apps or browser players are open at the same time.

  • Play and pause
  • Previous and next when available
  • Seek in collection playback
  • Like and unlike
  • Shuffle and repeat in collection playback
Limited controls: Pandora radio stations do not allow seeking, shuffle, or repeat. Those controls become available only when Pandora's collection player exposes them.

You can also configure global shortcuts in Choral Settings. They work while you are using another app, so common actions do not require bringing Chrome or Choral to the front.

4. Like or favorite the current song

Choral's heart uses Pandora's positive-feedback or favorite action when the current player exposes it. The exact effect depends on whether you are listening to a station or an on-demand collection.

If the heart is gray and cannot be clicked, the current player context has not exposed a reliable like or favorite action. Choral deliberately disables unavailable actions instead of hiding controls or guessing where to click.

What Limited Support means

Pandora has Limited Support because radio and collection playback expose different capabilities. Choral supports both modes, but it enables only the controls Pandora makes valid for the current track.

Music websites can change their player interfaces and internal behavior. Choral's support label describes the current integration, but a future website update can temporarily affect one or more controls.

Troubleshooting

The progress bar does not move in radio mode

Pandora radio does not expose a normal seekable timeline. This is expected; collection playback provides a duration and seekable progress when available.

Collection playback shows Nothing Playing

Refresh Pandora after enabling it, start the song from the collection's bottom player, and wait for the track title and duration to appear.

Shuffle or repeat is disabled

Check whether you are listening to a station. These controls are available for compatible collection playback, not Pandora radio.

Choral Connector says the app is not connected

Open the Choral app and leave it running. The extension connects only to a local address on your Mac. If the status does not recover, quit and reopen Choral, then reopen the extension popup.

Ready to control Pandora?

Install Choral and Choral Connector, enable the website, and start a track. Your browser keeps playing; Choral becomes the remote.
