Terms of Service

Last updated: July 11, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Choral app for macOS, the Choral Connector browser extension, and this website (together, "Choral"), made by FANG.works. By downloading or using Choral, you agree to them.

1. License

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Choral on Macs you own or control. You may not redistribute Choral as your own, sell it, or distribute modified builds under the Choral name. All rights not expressly granted remain with FANG.works.

2. Third-party music services

Choral is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify, Apple, Google/YouTube, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, TIDAL, Deezer, Last.fm, or any other music service. All service names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners and are used only to identify the services Choral can control.

Choral is a remote control, not a music service:

  • It does not provide, stream, download, or store music content, and it does not circumvent DRM, paywalls, advertising, or any technical protection.
  • You need your own account or subscription with each service you use, and playback happens in that service's own app or website under your account.
  • You are responsible for ensuring that your use of Choral complies with the terms of each service you connect it to.

3. Service changes and availability

Choral works by integrating with apps and websites that we do not control. Music services may change their apps, websites, or APIs at any time, which can degrade or break Choral features without notice. We work to restore compatibility, but we cannot guarantee that any integration will keep working. Integrations marked Beta are provided on a best-effort basis and may have known limitations.

4. Account connections

When you connect an account (such as Last.fm), Choral performs actions on your behalf — for example, submitting scrobbles — strictly under the authorization you grant, which you can revoke at any time. Spotify liking requires the Client ID of your own Spotify developer application; that developer account is yours, and your use of it is subject to Spotify's own developer terms. See our Privacy Policy for what data these connections involve.

5. Third-party content

Album artwork is retrieved from Apple's iTunes Search API and lyrics from LRCLIB. This content comes from third parties: it may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unavailable, all rights in it remain with its respective owners, and it is displayed for your personal, non-commercial use only.

6. Downloads and updates

Official distribution channels are this website (choralapp.com) and, once available, the Mac App Store; the browser extension is distributed through the browser's official extension store. We are not responsible for copies obtained elsewhere. Versions from different channels may differ in features and update behavior, and we may release updates that change or remove functionality.

7. Acceptable use

You agree to use Choral only for lawful purposes, and not to use it to infringe the rights of any music service, rights holder, or other party, or to attempt to disrupt or misuse the services Choral connects to.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

Choral is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, FANG.works shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of (or inability to use) Choral. Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for Choral.

10. Termination

You may stop using Choral at any time by deleting the app and the extension. This license terminates automatically if you breach these terms. Sections 2, 5, 8, and 9 survive termination.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as Choral evolves. Changes take effect when posted on this page, with the "Last updated" date revised. Continuing to use Choral after a change means you accept the updated terms.
